Advent Week 4- Love
Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings and Talofa lava!
This week, we celebrate the theme of Love, completing our Advent journey through Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Together, these themes shape our faith and guide our walk with Jesus during the Christmas season. Each week has reminded us that Advent is a season of both reflection and expectation, remembering what God has done and trusting in what He has promised.
The Bible tells us, “God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them” (1 John 4:8, 16). God revealed the fullness of His love by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. This love was foretold in the Old Testament through the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah, and it is revealed and fulfilled in the New Testament through the Gospels of Matthew and Luke and affirmed in Romans. At Christmas, we celebrate the coming of Jesus, God’s love made visible and personal.
As you read the following Scriptures, invite the Holy Spirit to reaffirm hope, peace, joy, and love in your heart as you celebrate the birth of Jesus.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,
and the government will be upon His shoulders.
And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us John 1:14.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”) Mathew 1:22-23.
Advent reminds us that we are a people of hope. We look back with gratitude to Christ’s birth, and we look forward with trust and joy to His promised return. With expectant hearts we pray, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).
Felicity and I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. May you know the peace, warmth, and joy of Christ this season. We would love to see you at our Christmas Eve 11:00pm Candlelight Service as we celebrate Jesus, the Light of the World, together.
