Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings and Talofa lava!

Our God Is an Awesome God

I want to share a brief testimony of God’s grace at work this week.

I was reminded again of how faithful our God is when a friend reached out to me in a moment of deep need. My friend was facing a very challenging situation and simply needed someone to talk to. I counted it a real privilege that my friend trusted me enough to call, but even more, I became deeply aware of the responsibility and privilege of bringing my friend’s need before God in prayer.

As we talked, my prayer was not only that the circumstances would change, but that my friend would be given courage, peace, and wisdom to rest in God when the way forward felt uncertain. I also reached out to others, inviting people in Auckland and Tauranga to pray. Together, we placed this situation into God’s loving and faithful hands.

The very next day, my friend called again, this time with good news. The meeting my friend had been so anxious about went well. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy, not because my friend was able to confront the need by taking a step forward to resolve it, but because God had shown Himself faithful. He had heard our prayers and had gone before them.

This experience reminded me that Scripture calls us to be available to one another and to seek God’s wisdom through prayer, especially for those who are weary, afraid, or unsure. God invites us to bring every concern to Him, both big and small.

The Word encourages us:

  • “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136:26)
  • “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” (1 John 5:14)

If you are facing a similar situation today or walking alongside someone who is, be encouraged. Ask God. Pray boldly. Trust Him to do His work. Our God hears our prayers, He is near to the broken-hearted, and He acts in love.

Our God truly is an awesome God.

Prayer of Gratitude

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your holy name.

We thank You that You invite us to come to You with every care and every worry, knowing that nothing is too small or too heavy for You. Thank You for Your mercy and grace that are new every morning.

Thank You for being our refuge and our resting place, a safe shelter in times of trouble and a place of peace for weary hearts. We are deeply grateful that You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Saviour, and that You have given us the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and guide.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing and answering our prayers, and for working in ways beyond what we can see or understand. We place our trust in You and give You all praise and honour.

To You be the glory, now and forever.

Amen.
