A Lesson from a broken Tooth
Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings and Talofa lava!
Last week I accidentally broke my tooth while munching through my freshly baked date scone. What is normally an anticipated joyful experience turned out to be quite an ordeal! I rang my dentist, only to be told he was fully booked for the next two weeks. Ten minutes later, however, his receptionist called back to say someone had just cancelled and that I could come in the next day. Boy, wasn’t I thankful and grateful to be able to see him!
This little episode prompted me to reflect on how I react to accidents or unplanned events. Life often brings surprises, some small, others much larger and our first response can easily be frustration, worry, or even fear. Yet the Bible reminds us that we are never left alone to navigate these feelings. God’s word speaks of His comfort, encouragement, and peace to sustain us through life’s unexpected turns.
In every moment of uncertainty, we can trust God as our provider and comforter. When we choose to trust Him, we declare our confidence that He is always with us, even in the most surprising circumstances. There is deep peace in knowing that God is not merely watching from a distance, He is a present help in times of trouble.
Take a few moments to reflect on these reassuring Scriptures:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
I’m thankful to report that my dentist was able to repair my broken tooth, praise God for medical professionals and the skills He gives them!
May we all be reminded this week that even in life’s small mishaps, God is close, caring for us, and ready to help in ways we don’t always expect.
