Advent Week 2 – Peace
Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings and Talofa lava!
This Sunday, 7 December, we enter the second week of Advent, focusing on the beautiful theme of Peace. Everyone longs for peace, yet many still struggle to accept God’s free gift of peace through His Son, Jesus.
The Bible reminds us that true peace comes from God. It is a calm assurance that surrounds us even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Peace is the confidence that God is in control and that we are safely held in His love.
Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah called Him the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Through Jesus, we are made right with God, and because of that, we can live in peace with Him (Romans 5:1). This peace guards our hearts and minds, even in difficult times (Philippians 4:7).
God’s peace is meant for every one of us, right where we are. Jesus reminds us,
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
And this peace is not something we have to figure out or earn. Scripture tells us that when we bring our worries to God in prayer, in honesty, in gratitude, “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4)
God’s peace isn’t just a concept. It’s a gift we can lean on, one situation at a time.
God’s peace is not theoretical. It’s practical. It’s personal. It shows up in the small pauses, the whispered prayers, the honest moments as we turn to Him.
This week I pray that in the busyness of Christmas, you may receive the peace Jesus offers, to calms anxious thoughts, gently shape your day and guard your heart and mind, right where you are.
