Celebrating Grandparents, Sharing Stories, and Fellowship in Action
Tena koutou, and greetings church family.
This week, four of our grandchildren celebrated Grandparents’ Day at their schools in Auckland. Felicity attended James’ event as he begins his first year at college, while I had the joy of joining Elijah, Luke, and Daniel at their school.
In my previous visits, Grandparents’ Day has always been a highlight on the school calendar. I love the lively atmosphere—the excited chatter and conversations with our grandchildren as they eagerly share their experiences. They proudly showed me their work, from recorded stories in their books to classroom displays. They shared both factual and imaginative stories, talked about their favourite activities, and expressed appreciation for their teachers and why they love school. It’s a true blessing to see their enthusiasm and willingness to share.
If you had the opportunity to attend a Grandparents’ Day event, congratulations! What a privilege it is to be part of these special moments in our grandchildren’s lives.
Scripture also reminds us of the importance of sharing our stories with God:
Each one should test his own work. Then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else (Galatians 6:4)
Therefore, encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Therefore go and make disciples….. (Matthew 28:19)
Sunday Church Picnic
What a fantastic afternoon we had at Kulim Park for our church picnic! Our church culture was truly on display—sharing, caring, and enjoying fellowship together. I’ve asked Maria to share a few words —see below.
“Last Sunday, the St Peter’s family enjoyed a picnic at Kulim Park. The sky was blue, the tide was in and the sausages sizzling on the BBQ.
Our picnic covered all the bases – fellowship, fun and food
David Duncanson organised lots of games for everyone. Tim Bassett and Arke Keni were the egg throwing champions. There was some talk that they had a ‘hard boiled’ egg, but it did eventually break – all over Tim’s shorts!
Other games included, a pinnata, penny farthing rides (thanks Gary), Kubb, kayak paddling, tree climbing and soccer. Great participation everyone.
A big thank you to the Events Committee and David for organising this event. “
