Gratitude and Reflection: A Journey of Healing and Spiritual Insight
Tena koutou, and greetings church family.
Over the past two weeks, I have undergone cataract surgeries on both eyes, with my left eye being operated on this Wednesday. I am incredibly grateful for my surgeon’s skill and expertise and give thanks to God for the gift of medical professionals who restore sight and bring healing. I praise Him for the blessing of clearer vision!
This experience has reminded me how precious our sight is—not just physically but spiritually. In Scripture, the eye is often used as a symbol of our perception of God’s truth, our moral clarity, and our spiritual insight. Jesus calls us to have eyes that are open to His light so that our whole being may be filled with His presence.
May these verses encourage and strengthen your faith:
- Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
→ Life can be full of distractions, but we are reminded to keep our focus on Jesus. He is the one who strengthens our faith and gives us hope.
- Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. (Proverbs 4:25)
→ This verse encourages us to stay on the right path and not be distracted by things that pull us away from God. Keep looking ahead and trusting Him with your journey.
- The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. (Matthew 6:22-23)
→ What we focus on affects our hearts and minds. If we focus on God’s truth and goodness, His light will shine in us. But if we focus on negativity or sin, it can lead us away from Him. Let’s choose to fill our lives with His light!
