Happy Mother’s Day
Kia ora koutou, warm greetings, and ngā mihi nui
This is the period in the Church calendar when we remember the 40 days Jesus remained on earth after His resurrection.
During this time, Jesus appeared to many, walking and talking with His followers, sharing meals, and offering words of peace. His presence brought comfort, reassurance, and renewed hope. He reminded them that the Holy Spirit would soon come to be with them when He ascended to the Father.
Fellowship was at the heart of Jesus’ post-resurrection ministry—being present, encouraging, restoring faith, and deepening relationships. Fellowship still matters deeply today. It brings comfort, strength, and joy, especially as we celebrate meaningful occasions like Mother’s Day!
SO A BIG………
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums in our church family. May the peace of God dwell richly in your hearts, and may His joy strengthen you this weekend. Enjoy your time with loved ones.
Here’s a reflective poem in honour of mothers:
“A Mother’s Love”
Author Unknown
Of all the special joys in life,
The big ones and the small,
A mother’s love and tenderness
Is the greatest of them all.
Proverbs 31:25–28
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her.
Prayer for Mothers
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of mothers—their love, wisdom, and enduring strength. Bless every mother with Your peace and joy. Strengthen them in the roles they carry and surround them with grace. Amen.
( Adapted from Aaron D. Brown, May 7, 2024)
We also acknowledge those for whom this day may bring sorrow—those who never knew their mother or live with the pain of a strained relationship.
A Prayer for Comfort:
Lord, embrace the hearts of these women. Remind them they are deeply loved. Fill them with hope and peace, and bring alongside them women who will support and pray with them. Amen.
