He Welcomes Us

Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings, church family!

Watching the highs and low of champion athletes in the Olympic games is a learning moment for me. I watch the reactions of the athletes and their supporters, I listen to the commentators analysis and of course observe my own feelings and emotion.

A memorable moment for me was the men’s Triathlon. There were so many reasons that was brilliant in the race but the one that stood out for me was at the end of the race with the New Zealander Wilder (silver medal) sitting down with his arm around Lee (Great Britan) the eventual winner. That was a moment to savour for me.

This is a picture for me of Jesus loving arm of encouragement as people come to receive Him as Lord. He welcomes us with open arm and is always near to us during our journey of life.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. a

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

He will cover you with his feathers,and under his wings you will find refuge;

his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”and you make the Most High your dwelling,

no harm will overtake you,no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;

 “Because he b loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” (Psalm 91)
