Come, Walk Toward Me

Hasn’t it been cold? This polar blast has certainly been felt! It really is the middle of winter, the days are cold, the roads are wet and slippery, and sickness seems to be making its way through our homes and families. Even in the office, Nicola, David and Maria have all had a dose. I seem to have missed it! Thank you for your prayers for all of us.

I know some folks have recently returned from overseas holidays, so welcome home! Others are recovering from operations, while others are welcoming extended family to stay. And perhaps winter and its storms have arrived not only outside your window, but somewhere in your life as well.

Sometimes those storms can rock our faith and shake our hope. Yet right in the middle of the storm, Jesus comes to His disciples and says to Peter, “Come.”

Peter steps out of the boat and begins to walk toward Jesus.

Think about that for a moment. The wind is blowing, the waves are moving beneath his feet, and yet Peter gets out of the boat and walks toward Jesus.

The storm hasn’t stopped. The circumstances haven’t changed.

But Jesus is there.

And His invitation to us is still the same: “Come, walk toward Me.”

Whatever you are facing today, keep your eyes on Jesus. You may not know what lies ahead, but you can trust Jesus who is calling you forward. And if you feel tired, rest. If you stumble, get back up. But don’t give up.

Friends be encourage, let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrew 12:2)
