When Felicity and I first moved down here we were amazed at the wonderful fruit and vegetable provisions of Tauranga Moana. The place has an abundance of orchards and gardens not found up in Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland, so it was wonderful yesterday to bring this aspect before the Lord in prayer.
Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her.
Today Friday March 7th marks the end of the coalition Government’s first 100 days in power. So how did they do? That’s a big question and many of us will have differing opinions. Some good some bad. But this made me think about my last 100 days walking with the Lord.
34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
What a wonderful blessing it was to have Iconz and the Boys Brigade as part of our service last week. I appreciated the involvement of the church family in all facets of our church worship ranging from singing, reading scriptures, short testimonies, praying for people in leadership, celebrating communion followed by fellowship over a meal.
Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.[a] The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
On Wednesday, we heard of the sad passing of a Pacific member of parliament, Fa’anana Efeso Collins. He is my eldest daughter Sara’s, brother-in-law (her husband Ralph is the brother of Efeso’s wife Vasa Fia). I received the call very early from Latafale and her words were “Dad have you heard?” my initial reaction was shock and disbelief.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.”
From the worlds point of view, it’s St Valentine’s Day, the day romantic love is expressed with affection, greetings and gifts to our dear ones. Historians offer origins, from both Christian and ancient roman traditions.
On Waitangi day I watched the live broadcast of the dawn service up at Waitangi and what a blessing. I was moved by the stories shared by those whose whanau were possibly eyewitnesses to the signing of the Treaty and the deep spiritual connection surrounding the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
